High-Intensity Surface Mount 40 LED Underwater Transom Light
Introducing our Surface Mount LED Underwater Transom Light designed specifically for easy surface mounting to the stern of your boat. We design this light to be incredibly bright, affordable, waterproof, corrosion-proof, durable, and long-lasting. Say goodbye to through-hull drilling. All you have to do is drill 2 small 1/8″ holes in the back of the boat.
Design
In this light, we use Cree 3535 LEDs soldered directly to a copper board. The board is thermally-adhered to a 6061 machined aluminum solid block. To wire up the light, we use military-grade Teflon wire that is incredibly durable and corrosion-proof. To seal the lighthead, we epoxy embed it inside of an attractive gray 4.5″ diameter flanged PVC flush mount fitting that is only 2″ tall. To seal the lighthead fully, we seal the front of the lighthead with an indestructible Lexan lens.
High-Intensity
Built with (40) 3 Watt LEDs, this light is incredibly bright for the cost. Here at Loomis LED, we have the industry-leading lumens per dollar cost amongst all other underwater lighting companies transom lights. Look above at the table in the product pictures for more information. Lumen output is dependent on LED color. For another option, we also sell a 24 LED Surface Mount Transom Light.

Shining a High-Intensity Green Underwater Transom Light into the woods.
Lumen output by color
- White produces 180 lumens per LED * 40 = 7200 lumens
- Green produces 130 lumens per LED * 40 = 5200 lumens
- Aqua produces 110 lumens per LED * 40 = 4400 lumens
- Red produces 90 lumens per LED * 40 = 3600 lumens
- Blue produces 50 lumens per LED * 40 = 2000 lumens
Fish Attractant
Lure fish right up to your boat with this 40 LED underwater transom light. Phytoplankton feed on the light during the night as a food source. Other fish and aquatic life will then come to feed on the phytoplankton. Similar to chum, the light acts as an underwater fish feeder. Night fishing has never been easier with this high-intensity boat transom light. Use these lights for nighttime fishing of bait, tuna, swordfish, and striped bass. Green attracts fish the best followed by aqua, white, blue, and then red. To learn more, read our article, “Why do Underwater Lights Attract Fish?”
Boat Size Light Purchasing Recommendations
Depending on boat size, we recommend purchasing either 1, 2, 3, or 4 transom lights for optimal light spread across the back of the boat. For boats <20′ we recommend either two 24 LEDs or two 40 LEDs. For boats >20′ you can purchase anywhere from 2 to 4 lights depending on the beam width of the transom. Make sure your lights are as deep as possible below the waterline rather than far apart.

Surface Mount Easy Installation
To mount, you only have to drill 2 small 1/8″ holes in the back of the transom. Next, surface mount the transom lights and run the wires through. Simply connect the positives to the positives and the negatives to the negatives on a 12 VDC non-charging or charging battery. More detailed installation instructions are in our downloads section of our website.
Maintenance
To maintain, rinse off the saltwater after boating as it will corrode the metal slowly when it is exposed to air. Additionally, coat the PVC with a thin layer of waterproof marine grease to greatly reduce or eliminate marine growth and only require a monthly periodic reapplication. Make sure the lights are never operated out of the water as overheating can still damage the LEDs. In addition, make sure to turn off lights when on a plane as they are don’t have direct water cooling. If you follow these steps, your light will last a lifetime of use.
